KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen elected MCA central committee members have to date expressed their willingness to resign to pave the way for fresh party polls, Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said.
The MCA deputy president said this after a meeting of the special committee for fresh party elections on Monday.
Dr Chua, who chairs the committee, told reporters that 20 central committee members must resign to enable fresh party polls to be held.
He said he had requested the MCA secretariat to prepare standard resignation letters for CC members.
Dr Chua also told reporters that the central committee would make a final decision on whether fresh polls should also be held for the Youth and Wanita wings.
Meanwhile, MCA secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng said that he had prepared resignation letters for central committee members to sign.
